Lady’s Island Oyster Factory was boomin’ back in its heyday, and Isabella Seabrook was the “Belle” of the ball (see what I did there). You could walk into her juke joint for a quick bite and a sip of something strong after a long day of shuckin’ oysters, and wake up the next morning still at the bar, late for work. Yes, Miss Belle knew how to throw down, but don’t cross her, she’d cuss a heifer out in a heartbeat, only to offer a plate of food after. There’s no better way to honor my great, great grandma and her once fine establishment than with these sweet, salty sweet potato spiced pecans. Made with sweet potatoes, maple, cinnamon, and an extra helping of some of that good ole ‘shine.
